Pickren Employee Charity Choice Award

​Pickren Community Outreach is proud to spotlight a recent $3,000 donation made possible through its first Employee Charity Choice Award contest. This spring, employees across the Pickren companies were asked to nominate their favorite local charities to be considered for a Pickren Community Outreach Donation. Fourteen local non-profit organizations were nominated in the contest and the winner of this year’s donation was McClain, Inc. 
 
McClain, Inc. is a nonprofit organization in Tampa that was incorporated in 1977 and provides comprehensive habilitative services for individuals with developmental disabilities. Its services are delivered through two small group homes in residential neighborhoods- one for women and one for men, with a focus of enhancing functional life skills and independence. The organization’s mission is centered on helping people with developmental disabilities live as independently as possible, while fully participating in their communities. 

​The $3,000 donation from Pickren Community Outreach will help keep McClain Inc.’s group homes maintained and continue making them nice places to live for the people they serve. For organizations that operate residential homes, routine maintenance and upkeep are essential to preserving a stable, supportive environment, and this gift will provide meaningful assistance in that effort. 
Mary Luz, one of the several employees that nominated McClain Inc. for the award, said:

​“I was thrilled to find out that our company chose McClain Inc. for the donation. They do an outstanding job helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They operate with a board of directors that are 100% volunteers.”
